In my first post I talked about how to save the ocean, in this post I will be talking about how to save the animals both near and far.
1. Use less plastic 2. Donate to Wildlife Organizations 3. Adopt from shelters and even off the street instead of buying them 4. Buy cruelty-free products 5. Do not support things like circuses 6. Volunteer at your local shelter

You would think now that we're in 2019 and African-Americans were given equal rights in 1964 when the Civil Rights Act was passed that racism wouldn't even be a thought in anyones head at this point. I mean, it was FIFTY-FIVE YEARS ago. Sadly, racism, prejudice, and inequality still exist. We see all over the news and social media that a young black girl was made fun of for her hair, or that a young black boy was bullied to the point of suicide, or that an older black male was shot either by a civilian or even the POLICE. The ones who are supposed to PROTECT and serve.
1 in 3 black men born in 2001 or after will be imprisoned. The black to white ratio in jail, just in Kentucky, is 3.3:1. In Wisconsin the ratio is 11.5:1. Now, that can't be right? But it is, and THAT'S what isn't right. Listen, I don't care what your grandmama or whoever taught you from back in the day about blacks and whites but UNLEARN IT and LET IT GO. If someone told you that your friend was stealing would you just believe them? Or would you ask them about it yourself? The saying goes, "Don't believe everything you see on social media." Well, I say don't believe everything you hear, or AT LEAST take it with a grain of salt. Do your own research. Use your own mind. Believe what you think is right. Do you think it's right for a black man to get double or triple the jail sentence a white man does for the SAME crime? No? Me either. So I say all this to say... unlearn the prejudice, unlearn the racism, think your own thoughts, tell that little girl her hair is beautiful, tell that little boy he's gonna do great in school, tell the older man he will get that job, thank that elder woman who cooked that meal for you and let you stay in her house, and most importantly, just simply be kind. It goes quite a long way. Honestly, I didn't think this would be my first post, or frankly that I would ever even have a blog. However, the things that are happening around me and around the world are very important. What I am going to focus on in this post is ocean pollution and marine life. You may think, "Well, I don't live near the ocean so nothing I do could possibly effect it." WRONG. Even if you don't live near the ocean most people still live near some type of body of water, and guess what? They all connect to the ocean. So yes, what you do in Kentucky can and will effect the ocean waters where you have your precious Florida vacations. Luckily, there are things you can do to reduce waste and help save marine life. Examples are: 1. Reduce the frequency of hair washing. The chemicals in our hair products obviously go down the drain with the water and eventually this water flows to animals and the chemicals can harm them. 2. RECYCLE. I cannot stress this enough!! Alll those plastic water bottles and aluminum coke cans you use eventually make their way to the water and pollute the oceans and kill the animals. You can either pay for pick-up or take them to the recycling department yourself. 3. Volunteer to do clean-ups. 4. Donate! Support the organizations willing to go out and do clean up if you aren't going to. 5. Use less plastic! Preferably none at all but if you have to use plastic then please use the least amount possible. Instead of using plastic water bottles use a refillable one, buy reusable grocery bags and straws. 6. Sign petitions! Even if you don't have the money to donate you can still help by simply signing petitions online.
